  • Minimum age 18, or 10 through 17 with written parental consent.
  • Complete the required SDI administrative and medical documentation before in-water training.
  • Demonstrate adequate swimming ability and complete the required watermanship assessment.

How Training Works

01

Knowledge Development

Build an understanding of equipment, the underwater environment, pressure, physiology, dive planning and responsible diving practices.

02

Confined-Water Coaching

Develop and refine core scuba skills in controlled conditions, with time to understand each skill and repeat it reliably.

03

Open-Water Experience

Complete a minimum of four supervised dives and apply your skills in real diving conditions. SDI requires at least 80 minutes of accumulated underwater time.

Training is performance-based. Meeting minimum attendance, time or dive numbers does not guarantee certification; all required knowledge and skills must be demonstrated consistently.

Skills and Knowledge You Will Develop

Equipment preparation, assembly and pre-dive checks
Buoyancy control, weighting, trim and efficient movement
Controlled descents, ascents and safety stops
Mask, regulator and breathing-gas management skills
Buddy communication, air sharing and problem management
Dive-computer use, depth and gas monitoring
Dive planning, environmental awareness and safe decision-making
Entries, exits and adapting procedures to local conditions

Continue Your Development

Your next step should match your interests, recent experience and in-water foundations. We can help you choose an appropriate progression rather than collecting certifications without the experience to support them.
