CCR & Rebreather Training
Closed-Circuit Rebreather Training Melbourne
Develop unit-specific knowledge, disciplined checks, loop awareness and deliberate responses through TDI training on the Halcyon Symbios and JJ-CCR.
Start a ConversationProgress into CCR Diving with Purpose
Closed-circuit rebreather diving changes how gas is managed, how buoyancy is controlled and how the diver responds to problems. Blue Water Ascent provides unit-specific TDI training on the Halcyon Symbios and JJ-CCR, with deliberate skill development, disciplined procedures and coaching shaped around the individual diver.
Training Pathways
- Air Diluent CCR — no-decompression training to 30 metres
- Air Diluent Decompression Procedures — planned decompression to 40 metres
- Helitrox Diluent Decompression Procedures — helium diluent training to 45 metres

Who CCR Training Is For
These pathways are for divers seeking their first CCR certification, qualified CCR divers progressing into planned decompression or helitrox diluent diving, and experienced rebreather divers transitioning to a different unit. Readiness is assessed individually; certification alone does not replace recent experience, sound foundational skills or mature judgement.
The Halcyon Symbios is a compact, chest-mounted electronic CCR with a modular design and integrated Symbios electronics. Training develops the unit-specific preparation, monitoring, loop-management and emergency procedures required to use the system within the limits of the certification being undertaken.
The JJ-CCR is a back-mounted electronic CCR designed around robust construction, straightforward operation and adaptability across technical diving environments. Training focuses on consistent assembly, checks, oxygen management, buoyancy, bailout planning and disciplined response to unit-specific failures.
What CCR Training Develops
Training develops repeatable preparation and pre-dive checks, breathing-loop and oxygen management, buoyancy and trim, setpoint awareness, bailout planning, team communication and the ability to recognise and respond to developing problems. The objective is not simply to operate a unit, but to build the judgement and habits required for responsible CCR diving.

Training Limits and Progression
TDI CCR certifications are unit specific. Air Diluent training is limited to no-decompression diving to 30 metres. Air Diluent Decompression Procedures extends training to planned decompression diving to 40 metres, while Helitrox Diluent Decompression Procedures introduces helium-based diluent and formal decompression to 45 metres. Actual training profiles remain within current TDI standards, environmental conditions and the diver’s demonstrated capability.
Unit Crossovers
Crossovers are available for appropriately certified and recently active CCR divers moving to the Halcyon Symbios or JJ-CCR. The training scope is determined by the diver’s existing certification, logged CCR experience, recent dives, the intended certification level and current TDI and manufacturer requirements.
Training Built Around the Diver
CCR training is planned around your existing technical qualifications, diving history, familiarity with decompression procedures and intended use of the unit. Where additional foundational development is needed, we will identify it before progressing into the unit-specific course.
A Competence-Led Approach
- Understanding before memorisation
- Skill mastery rather than minimum performance
- Coaching shaped around the individual diver
