Who This Course Is For
- Open-water divers who want to use enriched air nitrox.
- Divers planning repetitive, multi-day or travel diving.
- Divers preparing for Advanced Nitrox or rebreather training.
Prerequisites and Readiness
- Minimum age 18, or 15 with parental consent.
- SDI Open Water Scuba Diver, current enrolment in an Open Water course, or equivalent.
- No previous nitrox experience is required.
How Training Works
Academic development and practical gas-analysis exercises cover the planning and use of EAN22 through EAN40. No dives are required for certification, although two nitrox dives are recommended and may be arranged when appropriate.
Course duration is performance-based. Meeting minimum attendance or dive numbers does not guarantee certification; all required knowledge and skills must be demonstrated consistently.

Continue Your Development
Technical capability is developed through deliberate practice and experience between formal courses. Your next step should reflect your recent diving, equipment configuration and objectives.
The Blue Water Ascent approach
Competence Before Certification
We coach understanding, judgement and repeatable performance—not minimum-standard completion. Training is adapted to the diver while every certification requirement and course limit is preserved.
