TDI Nitrox Diver Course
Get ready for training that will transform your diving.
The TDI Nitrox Diver Course at Blue Water Ascent is an introduction to the field of breathing gas optimization – where science and safety meet, efficiency and performance meet, and your time underwater will be longer, safer and more enjoyable.
When you want to spend more time at depth, reduce your nitrogen load and have a less risky dive profile, Nitrox is your entry point. This course is designed to suit beginners as well as advanced divers who want to expand their no-decompression limits and move to the next stage of diving with grace.
Nitrox is not a gas mix.
It complements your overall diving experience.
Why Nitrox? - Better gas means better dives because
Traditional methods limit the length of time you can stay at depth. The high oxygen and low nitrogen content in Enriched Air Nitrox (EAN) has a huge impact on your bottom time, fatigue, and overall safety profile.
Nitrox is a definite advantage, whether you are diving reefs or wrecks or just starting out in technical diving.
Who is this course for?
The TDI Nitrox Diver course can be used by:
- Open water divers who want to learn more about enriched breathing gas.
- Divers who want to increase their no-decompression limits.
- Explorers who want to go on frequent dives or dive tours, at least on multi-day trips.
- Individuals enrolling in advanced technical courses such as Advanced Nitrox, Decompression Procedures or Rebreather courses.
- Divers, wreck divers or those who prefer long and safe underwater dives.
- If you are serious about diving, or you simply want to enjoy more time underwater, this course is perfect.
This course is the best in case you are serious about diving, or you just wish to get the pleasure of more time underwater.
Prerequisites
To participate in this program you must have:
- Minimum age 18 (or 15 with parental consent)
- Must have an Open Water Diver certification or be enrolled in an Open Water Diver program.
It does not require any technical training or advanced experience.
What you will learn through this?
One of the most helpful and easy additions to your diving is nitrox training.
Core Theory Covered:
- Understanding nitrox mixtures between EAN22 and EAN40.
- Advantages and disadvantages of enriched air.
- Physiological factors such as oxygen exposure.
- Calculations of maximum operating depth (MOD).
- Equivalent air depth (EAD) and its effect on nitrogen absorption.
- Labeling and analysis of gas mixtures, and safe storage of nitrox.
- Understanding partial pressure and oxygen toxicity management.
- Basic principles of gas-blending and dive planning.
It’s the science of safer, longer and more efficient diving.
On-the-job training - Practical skills that count
You will practice:
- Properly checking nitrox cylinders.
- Correctly recording oxygen percentages.
- Calculating MOD, EAD and CNS exposure.
- Knowing how your nitrox works in your dive computer.
- Choosing the right gas mixture for specific diving profiles.
- Being aware of the risks and dealing with them responsibly.
These skills will immediately improve your diving on your next visit.
What's in it for you? - The nitrox advantage
Upon certification, you can:
Independent diving EAN22-EAN40.
Spend much more time on the bottom.
Lessen the accumulation of nitrogen when making repeated dives.
More extensive and secure diving getaways.
Register in higher level programs including:
- TDI Advanced Nitrox
- TDI Decompression Procedures.
- TDI Semi-Closed Rebreather courses.
Above all, you will be able to dive much more consciously, confidently, and in control.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I be a professional diver who uses Nitrox?
No. Nitrox training can start with any open water diver – or even with an open water student.
Does Nitrox allow me to dive further?
Not deeper – for longer periods of time. Nitrox has a higher no-decompression limit but a maximum depth limit, which varies according to the oxygen percentage.
Is Nitrox safer compared to normal air?
Yes, when used properly. The reduced nitrogen levels reduce fatigue and decompression stress, especially on repetitive dives.
Will I require any special equipment?
Most modern regulators and dive computers are Nitrox-compatible. Your instructor will instruct you on equipment limitations and labeling.
Is it possible to transition into technical diving after this course?
Absolutely. The initial step towards advanced nitrox, decompression procedures and other technical programs in TDI is done with a nitrox certification.
